Work and people I admire

Coloured plastic cones spread out with lines connecting them

There are so many people and organisations that I admire, doing great and admirable work. And I want to share the goodness with the world! Below you’ll find a selected mix of people, organisations and resources that I have found helpful personally and professionally.

This list will grow over time. I’d love to hear about people, organisations and resources that you’ve found helpful – you can email me, or send me a note via my contact page.

Personal development

Researchers, writers, and resource hubs

  • Jon Acuff, author of multiple books that have helped me get out of overthinking, through procrastination, and into results.
  • Brené Brown, a gifted researcher and storyteller in the areas of courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. She has written multiple books, and hosts two podcasts, all of which I cannot recommend highly enough. If I had to pick one, it would be Dare to Lead, which brings together so much of her knowledge, insights and wisdom.
  • Conscious Leadership Institute, an organisation dedicated to building conscious business cultures of trust and intentionality. I particularly love their work on being above or below the line, explained in the simple video ‘Locating Yourself‘.
  • Angela Duckworth, researcher and author, an expert in measuring and building “grit” (the ability to stick with things and see them through).
  • Jeremy Dean’s Emotional Culture Deck*, a great way to build emotional intelligence for individuals, teams and families. Use the code “DARIAWILLIAMSON” to get a 10% discount on your purchases
  • Adam Grant, organisational psychologist, speaker, author and podcaster and big thinker about work, motivation, and being human.
  • Greg McKeown, author of Essentialism, and in my opinion even more importantly, Effortless.
  • Todd Kashdan, psychologist and provocateur. I love his concept of principled insubordination, and find his social media posts and newsletters to be interesting and thought-provoking (underlining why he called his newsletter ‘Provoked’!)
  • Ingrid Fetell Lee, whose book Joyful* has changed the way I look at my environment – and the choices I make about how I curate it – to boost my experience of joy in a sustainable way.
  • Positive Psychology.com, a repository of knowledge, insight and resources for applying research-backed positive psychology principles to work and life.
