How to have great ideas

Strategy 1: Have lots of ideas

So, you want to generate some great ideas? One of the best ways to do that is to have lots of ideas. Why? Because your first idea is rarely your best one*

Yes, I know everyone thinks quality is more important than quantity, but you'll never get to quality without going through quantity first. Just as urban legend says Einstein found 10,000 ways not to invent the lightbulb, the more ideas you have, the more you'll learn and expand your thinking. That will help you generate even more ideas. And the law of averages means that at least a few of them will be truly excellent.
So, what gets in the way of generating lots of ideas? How should we record the ideas we have? Should we stop after our first really good idea? And just how many is "lots" of ideas? Read the article here to find out the answers to these questions and more.
