Why do I love writing how-to articles?
I have an insatiable curiosity about the world, and human beings in particular. I love learning about how our minds, bodies and imaginations work, and how we can learn, grow, develop and flourish.
But theory only gets us so far! We need ways to translate theoretical knowledge into practical steps. And that’s where my how-to articles come in.
My goal with each article is for you, the reader, to walk away with at least one straightforward action that will make some kind of improvement to your work, relationships and life.
The "spillover effect"
Time and time again, I have seen the “spillover effect” at work when someone dedicates themselves to their personal and professional development.
What’s the spillover effect? Well, when we make a change for the good, it doesn’t “stay put” in the area where we implemented it. Instead, the benefits spill over into all areas of our lives. For example, if you hone your communication skills with intention of becoming a better leader, you’ll also become a better friend, family member, partner and parent. Or, if you’re working on becoming a better listener for your friends, inevitably your colleagues will experience this for themselves.
And by making a change for good in ourselves, we can trigger the domino effect. As we improve, we can inspire and help the people around us to make a change for good themselves. This helps everyone experience the benefits of positive change. What’s not to love?
